South Downs National Park

On 31st March 2010 the South Downs became Britain's newest National Park and the 10th to be designated in England. It's over 1600km sq and stretches 100 miles from the edge of Winchester to Beachy Head. It's a great place to visit, explore and stay. It has coast and countryside and the lovely cities of Brighton, Chichester and Winchester nearby. The headquarters of the Park will be in Midhurst and other good towns are Petersfield and Lewes. Furnished holiday lettings consultation

The Treasury is proposing changes to the letting rules to make them consistent with European law. It is proposed that the threshold for the rules should be increased so that properties must be available for letting 210 days per annum (up from 140) and actually let to customers 105 days pa (up from 70). In addition there are proposed changes to income tax and capital allowances. The consultation document is available at
